Takoyami Japanese Street Foods started as a home-kitchen catering and takeout operation that built a loyal following across Calgary before opening its first brick-and-mortar shop at 114B, 2323 32 Ave NE on April 9, 2022. The specialty has always been takoyaki: savoury octopus balls made with a dashi-infused batter and cooked to order in a specially molded pan, finished with takoyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, corn, bonito flakes, nori, green onion and seaweed powder.

Since then the menu has grown from takoyaki alone into a seafood-driven Japanese street food menu with ramen, beef japadog and Taiyaki dessert.
